The Court received grant funding to offer a Free Legal Clinic to individuals who are representing themselves. The clinic will be held on the first Thursday of the month. The next session will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
The Free Legal Clinic offered by the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas provides general legal information and assistance on a free basis. The information provided during the clinic is not a substitute for professional legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is established by attending or participating in the clinic. The following conditions are in effect:
- Limited Scope of Assistance: The legal assistance provided at the Free Legal Clinic is limited to general legal information and guidance. Attorneys participating in the clinic are not undertaking representation of any individual or case.
- No Attorney-Client Relationship: Participation in the Free Legal Clinic does not create an attorney-client relationship between the individual seeking assistance and the volunteer attorneys. The information provided is not confidential, and individuals should not disclose sensitive or confidential information during the clinic.
- Not Comprehensive Legal Representation: The Free Legal Clinic is not a substitute for comprehensive legal representation. Individuals seeking full legal representation should consult with an attorney separately and discuss the terms of such representation.
- No Guarantee of Outcome: Participation in the Free Legal Clinic does not guarantee any particular legal outcome. The assistance provided is based on general legal knowledge, and the specific facts and circumstances of each case may impact the outcome.
- Limitation of Liability: In no event will the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas or attorneys participating in the Free Legal Clinic be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, punitive or similar damages) arising from advice from the Free Legal Clinic.
